About Us

Racquet Network specializes in teaching adults and children how to rally and play outdoor tennis at a recreational level. We also provide opportunities for new players to meet other players at their level and become involved in Calgary’s tennis community.

At the centre of everything we do is our RECOMMENDED TENNIS PATHWAY for ages 9 to adult.

STEP 1 – Learn the basics with TENNIS LESSONS.
STEP 2 – Learn to rally with LEARN TO RALLY.
STEP 3 – Learn to serve with LEARN TO SERVE.
STEP 4 – Learn to play in a LEARN TO PLAY LEAGUE.
STEP 5 – Join a recreational tennis league and start playing regularly.

Racquet Network has programs in place at tennis facilities in Calgary to help players take all five of the steps above. Players meet other players at their level at every step along the way. Some players become friends. Some become rivals. Either way, players in our programs often tell us that they are playing tennis more often and at a higher level than at any other point in their lives.

Step 1 – TENNIS LESSONS

Learn the four essential tennis strokes in four sequential lessons: forehand, backhand, volley and serve. Most players who complete this step will be ready to move on to Step 2. In some cases, instructors may recommend that students repeat this level to improve their basic skills before moving on to Step 2.

Step 2 – LEARN TO RALLY

Instructors in this program build on the essential skills learned in Step 1. Participants learn how to rally through improving control and consistency. The emphasis in this program is on COOPERATIVE rally. Once this is mastered, students are introduced to the concept of COMPETITIVE rally.

Step 3 – LEARN TO SERVE

Racquet Network offers several one-hour LEARN TO SERVE clinics throughout the summer. Students are encouraged to partcipate in as many clinics as they need in order to get their serve to the desired level. Students are encouraged as well to practice their serve between clinics in order to continue improving.

Step 4 – LEARN TO PLAY

Racquet Network’s LEARN TO PLAY programs teach players the basic rules and strategies for singles and doubles tennis. As always, the emphasis is on meeting people and playing outdoor tennis at the recreational level.

Step 5 – JOIN A LEAGUE

Players who complete all five steps will be ready to join a recreational tennis league and begin playing regularly.
